For those that love the adventure and open-air experience that comes with riding one’s own ATV, while possibly taking in the South Carolina sights, here are some places worth checking out in the Palmetto State.
Battery Park Offroad
Located one hour directly west of Myrtle Beach in Hemingway, Battery Park Offroad has many different options to choose from when it comes to riding ATVs. As noted on their website, Battery Park Offroad offers 4 MX tracks including Big MX, Vet Supercross, Kids only MX Track & GP Track connected Trails, with 30 plus miles of single track trails in one direction for Enduro. Battery Park Offroad is open seven days a week, Monday through Friday. There is also an ATV Safety course included with their tours.
Carolina Adventure World
For ATV riders considering Carolina Adventure World, located in Winnsboro, S.C., the park was recently chosen as “Fun Things To Do in SC.” Carolina Adventure World’s website notes that their grounds consist of 2,600 acres of private land and also that they are the Southeast’s largest ATV, Dirt Bike Riding, and UTV park. If you don’t have the equipment, Carolina Adventure World rents helmets, ATVs and more. It is best to call ahead when planning to rent ATVs and any other equipment.
Gulches Off Road Vehicle Park
Noted as a small family park on its website, Gulches Off Road Vehicle Park is a private, 80-acre property in Waterloo, S.C. It is open every weekend as long as the weather permits. The park is available for rigs of all sizes and all driver skill levels. All-terrain vehicles (ATVs) and off-highway motorcycles are allowed in their parks. ATV riders can use the two trails that are designated for four wheelers. And all but five of the trails are directional. A map of Gulches Off Road Vehicle Park is available by download from the website. The park also has many volunteer rangers to assist and guide riders on the trails.
TNT Motorsports Park
TNT Motorsports Park, which is located in Chester, S.C., allows ATV and Dirt Bike racers enjoy three motocross tracks for both dirt bike and ATV racing. Spectators, ATV and motorbike riders must have a membership to enter the park. For the less-experienced riders, there is a 2.5-mile, wooded trail in addition to the three tracks. Their website states that there is the Mini track, the Advanced Motorcross Track, the “Natural Terrain” MX Track, the Supercross Style Track, the Intermediate Track, the Kids Learner Track, the Flat Track Oval, and the ATV Track. There are also four trails at the TNT Motorsports Park to experience. They include the Kasel Trail, the Pathfinder Beginner Trail, the Caldwell Trail, and the Mitch Mimms Trail of Tears. The wisest action to take before considering these four trails is to call ahead to make sure that their trails are open for riding.
These ATV-friendly locations are some of the best for new experiences and outdoor adventures. Before you go, make sure you have South Carolina ATV insurance and other protection for your ride.
